A COUNTRY I'D LIKE TO VISIT
A year
before I started going to university, I watched Doctor Zhivago (1968) which is
a cinema adaptation of the Boris Pasternak novel (winner of the 1958 Nobel
prize) which tells the love story between the doctor and poet Yuri Zhivago and
Lara Antipova, in the middle of the first world war and the russian revolution.
This Hollywood
super production impressed me so much from the incredible landscapes to the
history of this country, and from this day, Russia is a country that interests
me in many aspects.
In the
first place: their culture. I have tried to read some books of famous Russian
writers like Lev Tolstoi and Fiodor Dostoievsky, and although I have finished
just a few books, because there are so long and complicated, but what I have
read I liked it a lot.
Also, I
like their classical music. It is very special, because is a mixture between
the European tradition and oriental sounds (for example Rimsky-Korsakov music).
Really, the
only thing that I like about Russia is their culture, and this I can enjoy from
Chile, and Doctor Zhivago was filmed in España because the book was prohibited
in the URSS.
